HUDSON VALLEY YOUTH CHORALE PERFORMS
Hudson Valley Youth Chorale Spring Concert 2008
Three Performances May 16th and May 17
On Friday, May 16th at 7:00
p.m. and on Saturday, May 17th, both at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00
p.m., the HVYC (a member of Holy Cross Community Outreach, Inc.) will
perform its annual spring concert. All three performances will be at Holy Cross Church on Pine Grove Avenue in Kingston.
The two choruses
(Cantabile Singers and Singing Ambassadors) will present an array of songs
reflecting American history and the people who helped mold it. Other songs will
look to future, the need for peace among nations, respect for one another and
our planet. The
chorus, known for the delightful
combination of music and movement, will premiere a new work by HVYC
choreographer Cindy Denise, “Singing in the Rain”. The concert will also
include songs to texts by American poets Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson.
Singer/songwriter Sarah Kramer-Harrison, HVYC Artist-in-Residence 2008” will be
a featured performer.
The concert will be led by
HVYC founding conductor, Barbara Pickhardt with Doris
Blatter, Nancy Chusid,
pianist Andrea Shaut, student conductor Eric Jacobs
and alumni assistant Taylor Sulander assisting.
Tickets are $10 for adults, school age children are free.

The HVYC is a familiar
performing ensemble in New York’s
Hudson Valley. In the past, the singers have contributed to myriad community
sponsored events; at historic landmarks and for civic organization’s fund
raisers. The chorus produces its own concerts and has been featured as guest
artists in concerts sponsored by other musical groups. The HVYC has performed
throughout the Hudson Valley, in New
York City and
at the State Capitol in Albany.
The HVYC has participated in three musical tours abroad
